Release 5

Yet another release without content. The truth is that is hard to add new content at this point, I would actually prefer to make a new game with original drawings, story and music instad of stole it from the internet.

Technical stuff
  • The game doesn't include blender anymore. It makes it 50mb instead of 130mb, basically now it's requiered to install Blender in your computer manually. As long as you install it in the default directory everything should work fine.
  • Added support for .xml files, though not used anywere.
  • Texts are now rendered using a diferent method, they look a little better I think. The cursor too.
  • Sound now has better transition efects, there is also sound for the new game menu.
  • Some bugs fixed.
What you may actually notice
  • Added a compass. Once you adquiere it, it allows you to move to any near location instad of choosing a random one.
  • The northdoor quest now is forced to you at the end of the game if you have not done it already.
  • The game starts with the credits. That's becouse I love that song and the dot dot dot soundtrack, so I want everybody to see the credits even if they don't complete the game. You can of course start a new game. The end has spoilers!
  • To make the game more like dot dot dot, now all you do is hit the spacebar, that's it!
  • Now if the dragon impregantes you not only is it game over but your save file is deleted and you'll have to start the game from 0. So you better make sure to have some reroll left when going there.
  • Now you only can reroll once before entering a location.

  2. I can't seem to run this version, I keep getting an error with msvcrt.dll. The previous version worked fine. I have the blender installed.

Also, do encounters have a seperate invisible roll to check if it triggers? I tried finding some rule with the vwxyz numbers but couldn't find any.

    1. Most probably it is an error with Blender, not the launcher. Check if you can play the game from blender (open data/izildia.blend). If it's not a problem with blender, but with the launcher, contact me via email (looksty9@gmail.com)

Yes, the encounters have an invisible roll. The chance is of 2/10 to skip an encounter but it may be modified during the progress of the game or even on diferent versions. There is yet another invisible roll with 3/10 chance to trigger the slave quest once you pass the first check.

    2. Hi, creator of Day in rape-city here :-)
It seems there is an error with blender 2.76 and the launcher of BGECore on Windows 10 : It does nothing and freeze.
I'm working on it, I keep you informed...

Old launcher with blender 2.75 works fine on Windows 10 but cursor does not appear with the new version of BGECore.

A workarround is to launch the game directly from blender.

    3. It works on my machine. Also Windows 10 x64 with Blender 2.76b, installed with the .msi on the defult directory. I'll have to try on another computer. If the launcher doesn't find Blender it should show a message, not freeze, wierd.

About the cursor, some changes were made on the last version of BGECore, now the cursor is rendered directly with openGL calls since that was the only way to make it appear on top of texts (Solving Blender bugs inside the game...) and still look good. See the API for more information. Some problems with the z-depth where dificult to implement and maybe that's causing it to not appear. In any case, it does work in my computer.

I'll try to fix the bugs someway if I can replicate them, thanks for the feedback.

    4. Thanks to a patch by Adam some bugs have been fixed on the launcher. Hopefully it works now. A bug on bracelet2 has also been fixed.

      (I've updated the link)

For the msvcrt.dll doesn't seem to be any clear solution. If anon could specify the message of the error it would help.

  3. Downloaded latest version as recommended. However there's no mac launcher at all in this version. Also your suggestion to try to launch in blender didn't work. My Mac couldn't even find the file extension you said to use.

    1. Finally got it to launch but the game was so choppy it was unplayable. Tried everything I could think up but eventually gave up.

    2. Hmm. I think that I introduced some serious problems in this version. Well, next version I'll make sure to fix it. I don't have a MacOS tough, and I can't test it there, so I just pray for everything to work fine.

It would be good if you could describe that choppy behaviour you mention. Did you have cursor? Was it like the frame rate were too low at times? Did you actually used the last version of Blender (2.76)?

    1. update: i actually read the config.

when i try to open blenderplayer.exe, 4 or 5 error messages appear, telling me that a program is not installed on my pc. i have tried redownloading blender, as well as downloading blender in 32 and 64, and these errors continue to show. is there a way to fix this?

this is with the latest version of blender, 2.78

    2. If you have Blender installed and the launcher is not working for you then open the game with Blender directly. The game is the "izildia.blend" file on the data directry. Once you have it in Blender press P or go to Properties -> Render -> Standalone Player
